Fishing Dartmoor

Fly Fishing Devon is run by Geoff Stephens and Paul Kenyon who are qualified game angling coaches, experienced and enthusiastic teachers and anglers.

We use several venues including the rivers Yealm, Lyd, East and West Dart.

If requested we can:
  • show you how to modify your cast to deal with awkward situations
  • demonstrate the need for stealth when approaching wild fish
  • share our thoughts on suitable equipment, fly selection and design
  • explain why trout lie in particular parts of a river
  • describe how trout perceive your fly
A day's fishing also involves the unexpected, the unpredictable and the intangible.
Here are some images that give a flavour of what to expect on a guided trip.

Guided fly fishing for trout video We offer full or half-day guided trips. Before your trip we will ask you about your prior experience and what you want out of your day. This helps us tailor the day around your desires and experience.

Westcountry rivers present an interesting set of challenges for experienced and novice anglers. We can help develop and improve the skills needed to catch wild fish in unspoilt surroundings.

If necessary we can lend suitable equipment (a 7' to 8 foot AFTM#3-5 rod and reel, wading staff) and arrange to hire waders. We provide a range of tried and tested flies.

Walking Dartmoor

Walking on Dartmoor is excellent. Different tastes and experiences are catered for. For the less demanding walker there are car parks from which brief, pleasant excursions can be made. For the more hardened explorer many miles over hard ground can be tramped in challenging conditions.
